Cocktail Cupcakes

On Saturday night, my friend Samantha and I celebrated our birthdays with a cocktail party at her house.

I decided to bake cupcakes for Samantha, much like last year. It took a little bit of pondering before I figured out this year's theme.

Cocktail cupcakes for a cocktail party! It just makes sense! So, now how to make them? Vibrant colours is an excellent place to start.

I'm not really a baking savant. Okay, I'm not at all a baking savant. But I do like being creative! So I used a chocolate cake mix to create my idea.

Blue icing, a candy orange slice, and a maraschino cherry make the blue hawaii on the left. White icing, coconut shavings, a piece of pineapple, and a maraschino cherry make the pina colada at the back. Pink icing and a candy lime piece make the margarita on the left. Minty green icing and chocolate powder make the grasshopper at the front.

I think they turned out quite well, if I do say so myself. :)

  1. They look yummy. I need to find a recipe for cake icing. What did you use for your brightly coloured icing?

  2. @Don TaiI know to max icing, you essentially mix together icing sugar and milk.

But, I just bought icing from a grocery store. As for the colour, neon food colouring. Haha!
