A Tale of Two Breakfasts: Markham Station (Part II)

I feel like Markham Station is legendary in Scarborough. It's a cheap sort of 24-hour dive with all day breakfast and other sorts of bar-like food and meals. Having been to Markham Station during various times of day, I would say it's busiest from 10 p.m. to 12 p.m.

Late night munching is very popular. You often see people head to Markham Station after an evening out. But, the eatery also has a very large breakfast crowd.

When you go to Markham Station, you know what you're going to get. Mediocre to good food, at a satisfactory price.

It's not a fancy place by any means, but the crammed booth seating and the surrounding train motif make it stand out from any other bar or breakfast place.

The best deal for breakfast is obviously the Breakfast Special. As long as you order before 11 a.m., $4.99 can buy you three eggs, hashed browned potatoes (or roast potatoes), and sausage (or ham or bacon).

The meal also comes with two slices of toast. Being a vegetarian, I gave away the sausages.

Kangdi was quite upset when he realized that his meal was basically the same as mine except it included chicken. Since his food cost $8.99, he essentially paid four dollars for a piece of poultry.

The semi-after math.

With an apple juice for Kangdi and an orange juice for me, our food came to about $20.

Don't ask me to choose between Markham Station and dim sum because I'm not sure I could. While dim sum is obviously more elaborate, there's something to be said to sitting down to a plate of eggs and potatoes.

I would give Markham Station a *** and a half/****, as well. I gave it such a high rating because I know what I'm in for when I go to Markham Station--and I'm craving it!

(Located at Markham and Sheppard.)
