Samosa King (Embassy Restaurant)

What's in the bag?!

What are those?!

Samosas!

& Pakoras!

Not too long ago, I randomly dropped into a restaurant on Finch, just east of Middlefield. "Samosa King," I said. "That sounds like fun!"

So, my friends and I drove into the parking lot and decided to take a look. I have to say, the contents of this restaurant/store/eatery were quite incredible.

The place is quite narrow. A long display case lines the long wall to the left. Behind the glass are countless Indian desserts and treats, different deepfried concoctions, and of course, samosas!

A long line had already formed so we joined the end. It was noisy and very cheerfully busy.

After noticing some delicious looking pakoras--I have had pakora before so it wasn't very adventurous of me--we asked for a bunch of those, and then a pound of samosas. The man from behind the counter shoveled the pakoras into a brown paper bag.

Following the mass of people, we were led along the wall to the scales at the end. After our paper bags filled with delicious deepfried goodness were weighed, we paid a fairly decent price for our snacks. What that price was, I can't remember.

On the board behind the samosa-shoveller and deepfried-weigher, there were descriptions of various other items one could buy. I remember a vast array of curries, sauces, and meats.

But we left Samosa King with just our samosas and pakoras.

I couldn't wait to arrive home, I started to chow down in the car.

The samosas were delicious! The pakoras needed some sauce, but they were very tasty on their own, as well.

Samosa King is quite the interesting looking and operating place. And with such a selection of food items, I want to go back soon!

To stay parallel with my other food posts, I'll give Samosa King a ** and a half/****. I feel as though I didn't try enough to give it a better rating. Oh well, I guess I'll have to go back. It's a shame, really. ( :P )
